Bonjour,
Je vous transmets des infos sur le tout récent livre de Clarence Mahan sur les créateurs des premiers iris horticoles.
Citation:
Dear friends,
If you know anyone who would like to buy a copy of my book Classic Irises and the Men and Women Who Created Them, which has just been published by Krieger Publishing Company, the American Iris Society is now selling copies for considerably less than other retail outlets. The retail price is US $87.50 but AIS is selling it to people overseas for either $67.00 (surface) or $$81.00 (airmail).
AIS can accept VISA cards or U.S. $ check or money order. To purchase, contact John or Kay Ludi at
kludi@juno.com which is the AIS Storefront. Their mailing address is Jack and Kay Ludi, P.O. Box 956, Sandy, OR 97055 USA.
The book has 404 pages and 31 chapters. It is a comprehensive early history of garden irises. It has biographies of all the great French, British, Japanese, German and Dutch pioneer iris breeders as well as the Americans. It also has chapters that challenge accepted knowledge about Iris germanica, Iris florentina and various American Hexagonae species.
Please pass this information on to anyone you think might be interested.
I will paste a copy of a picture of the cover to in this message. The man whose portrait is on the cover is Marie-Guillaume de Bure, known during his lifetime as the "father of modern iris culture."
Sincerely, Clarence Mahan.
